Sorry to hear that Philadelphia's City Tavern, which was established in 1773 and whose bar was the site of deliberations in the bar by the founding fathers for the Declaration of Independence during the Revolutionary War, has closed for good because of the pandemic. 74-year-old WALTER STAIB, the owner, blamed the past four months of slow business and it was only open four nights a week. Part of Independence National Historical Park, Staib said he would be selling off the restaurant’s curios.
If you see more boarded up buildings in the downtown area, it's because of Tuesday's elections and concerns about unrest linked to the big day. New steel fencing went up around the White House Complex on Monday, and the New York City Police Department put businesses on alert.
Movie news: Variety reports AMC Theatres had a 90.9% drop in revenues during the most recent earnings period, pulling in just $119.5 million. That may seem like a lot, but their losses were $905.8 million or $8.41 cents a share.
See ya: Yesterday, EVE announced that she would be leaving “The Talk” at the end of the year. She follows MARIE OSMOND, who left the CBS show earlier this year at the end of her first season on the panel. Eve said she wanted to spend more time with her family at their home in London rather than stay in Los Angeles where the show is filmed. The other members of the panel on the show are CARRIE ANN INABA (who also serves as the show's moderator), SHARON OSBOURNE and SHERYL UNDERWOOD.
