In The Beginning, There Was The “Uh Game”…
…and it was good. If you were unfamiliar, you take a caller and then give them a topic like “movie theater pop corn” and they have to talk for 20 seconds about it without repeating themselves of saying “Uh.” The 99.7 DJX is similar but is a competition between the two morning shows to see who can get in the last word.
Socially Distanced Santa
When he was at CBS in NY, Rick Thomas created “Brooklyn Santa.” He was so specific to that market that it would be hard to explain him to someone NOT from New York City.
He was that guy who pulled up on your block, opened up the back of the truck and just started selling stuff that he had had fall into his hands. “Whatchu want? You want some of them ‘lectronics? Some furs? Some cigarettes…?”
Brooklyn Santa was that guy and he just gave away stuff that having NO budget in NYC, Rick got from labels. And it always wrapped with Rick/Santa saying, “Hold my cigar…”
Maybe your character who ties everything together that you do in December is a Santa for 2020. As opposed to them handing you someone from the back of the truck, you write what you want on a piece of paper and post, and Socially Distanced Santa would reply with him wearing a mask and holding up some kind of “You got it Amy!” message.

The State Of The Sound
99.7 NOW-FM in San Francisco is back this Fall with the $5000 Secret Sound. As you can tell by the sound and the guesses, this one has people completely confused.
So on Friday afternoon St. John hosted a State Of The Sound where he tried to clear things up:
THINGS IT’S NOT
- No dry ice / No Water / Nothing hitting water
- No plastic pumpkin No Real Pumpkin
- Not Edible – so there’s no candy involved / no soda involved
- No Toilets involved or harmed in making the sound
- Not Spraying anything
THINGS IT’S NOT, BUT GETTING CLOSER
- Emptying the trash or recycle bin on a computer
- Pouring in a 7-Eleven Slurpee/Icee with a lid
- Opening of a can from which a snake or worms comes out
- Opening a jar of Grandma’s canned peaches
- Dropping a mentos into a soda
