Santa Fly-Bys
If you have a drone, you are halfway to a LOT of fun. But it can be for more than just taking video and photos. Like, well, this.
What if you awarded a Santa Fly By and every night fly it over the house of a winner who wants to give their kid a thrill. “Santa’s testing out the new sleigh and will be passing over East Sunnyslope at 7:55 tonight!” Maybe the best no-cost prize who could ever deliver. It just requires tricking out your drone.
You could also fly a sleigh across your site a couple of times a day. It can be done. That’s the cue to call or text to win something seasonal like a tree or a party platter from a grocery store.
Felicia Firstenberger
It’s always nice to have a recurring character for your contest imaging. Jamz in Orlando had the Berglunds who were an RV driving family on vacation from Minnesota. They won an Addy. Hot in Knoxville has had a coasterbuff for their Dollywood giveaways. Kiss in Boise has Tammy The Ticket Intern for their summer ticket giveaways.
One of the iHeart stations has tickets to an annual holiday attraction that’s pretty big in that market and are going to kick them off Thanksgiving Weekend.
As unique and exciting as “Win It Before You Can Buy It” is, they’re going to trot out a character who could be their go-to person for these kinds of ticket giveaways when events eventually start to throttle up: Felicia Firstenberger.
Felicia is always first. First to make Christmas cookies. The first to sing The First Noel this Christmas. The first to put up her tree. And she intends to be the first to win tickets to (event).
And They’re Off And Trotting
Results Radio has a few holiday traditions that they’ve been able to keep during COVID, including “Pumpkinhead” in Chico and the annual turkey drive is off and running in Yuba City.
Changing Things Up For Christmas During COVID
Every year 99.7 DJX in Louisville is part of something called “Chopper Shopper” where some winners are helicoptered to a shopping mall. For 2020 the chopper is going to be swapped out for a limo….but who cares? The prize package is ridiculous.
99.1 Hits-FM in St. Johns is one of the stations that annually does “Flight To The North Pole” where a bunch of kids fly off to meet the Big Guy at the North Pole. With COVID, they’re going to keep the kids on the ground. From Mike Campbell ----
‘It's the most talked about event of the Christmas season - HITS FM's Flight to the North Pole! Your home for Holiday Magic keeps the true innocence and spirit of the season alive. A small group of children get the HITSperience of a lifetime when they meet Santa Claus and ask him the one question they've always wanted the answer to.
Listeners enter online @991hitsfm.com and tell us the one question that their child would like to ask Santa - IN PERSON!
Due to quarantine and like so many other events this year the Flight to the North Pole will be a little bit different because this year we will bring Santa to the children. From our magically powered air craft at PAL Santa will fly here to meet our select group of boys and girls at a secret location.’
