New Years Eve
It’s inevitable that you’re going to have a countdown. But, if everyone’s doing something, then do it different or just risk fading into the landscape.
This year it falls on December 31st. I know, it’s tricky. It kind of jumps around on you. Which means that you actually have some time to prepare one. Since 2020 will be remembered as The Most Jacked Up Year Ever, your countdown should reflect that.
The Cracked Out Countdown would be just your countdown done randomly. Start with #17, go to #3, back to #38…and if you wanted to add a contest element, have people put them in the correct order and submit on the 1st.
Also…if this could be your main image on your site on the 31st, people would find it funny and would probably share the link and tell people to check it out.
A Charlie Brown Christmas 2020
I’m not sure if you saw the Cincy tree but that really sums up 2020, doesn’t it?
We’re going into a time of the year when it’s traditional for stations to ask listeners to submit photos of their festively decorated trees and kids and houses and pets. What if you instead had them go and find a frail sapling and hang an ornament on it and submit that as an entry?
The Power Of Free Food
We can give away $1000 and no one really cares. 93.1 The Wolf in Greensboro is doing fully prepared Thanksgiving dinners and are getting 2000 texts.
If you haven’t done some free Christmas trees, do. You will get a big freaking response.
Now, as exciting as having people just enter their email can be, the best “framing” for it has always been that you’re stealing the trees. There’s a little old lady with bad hearing and a backyard full of spruce right behind the station. A couple of times a day you hop her fence, fire up the chainsaw and drag a tree back.
Yes: the winner will get a certificate to the YMCA or another tree lot emailed to them, but how you dress it up will determine how big that can be.
