A Drive Thru Christmas
“Drive thru” is the new “virtual” and KLUC has adjusted Chet’s toy drive to be a drive thru that will negate the milling around at ground zero, be packed with seasonal elements, allow people to donate from their car, experience the tingle and still keep the hook: the idiot on the scaffold for ten days.
I saw a station in Indiana FB Living their turkey drop on Saturday and it was great: drive thru and get handed a turkey.
The Minnesota State Fair is reprising their huge food parade event from August as a light festival. People will most assuredly come, Ray. GLOW Holiday Festival | Minnesota State Fair (mnstatefair.org)
So…a station has found a place, and they have found volunteers and they are going to create a giant drive thru event for basically no money and kids will still be able to safely get a photo with Santa under the moniker “Candy Cane Lane.”
A Drive Thru Toy Truck Drive
92.5 XTU in Philly is bringing back their Toy Truck Drive as less of a parade and more of a drive thu. The hook, the visual, is that people will be decorating their cars and trucks. Since COVID people seem to be looking for an outlet for their energy and I saw several Halloween parades where people TOTALLY got into the spirit of tricking out their rides. 21st Annual XTU Toy Truck Parade - 92.5 XTU
Next? Santas.
I’ve always loved hanging things under balloons and letting them go. Find, return, win. V-103 in Atlanta once filled the sky with balloons carrying little paper turkeys the day before Thanksgiving to award, well, free turkeys.
Doing that with little paper Santas to award free trees seems like it could be fun.
