Pizza & A Project
In the beginning, there was “Dinner And A Movie”. And it was Good.
When we look back at COVID, we’ll recognize two things:
- “Projects” were the Activity. Some you chose to do, and others were foisted upon you by your spouse, but we all did projects.
- “Pizza” was the Food. It’s always been comfort food and who needed comfort more than during COVID. Plus it can be slid under doors.
One of the Sales Managers hit me up on Friday and asked if I had anything that I could add to a list of concepts he is pitching to a pizza client.
What if the morning show hosted a weekly Facebook live with clients who would do a tutorial on how to accomplish a project? Putting up wall paper. Creating a podcast. Shingling the roof. Maximizing space. Weather stripping. Home brewing. Putting together your old stereo (my Christmas break project). And it would be sponsored by a pizza, and they would dine on the product while doing the class.
Summer Shirts
One of the stations is anticipating that maybe, possibly, summer festivals and music could be back, so they are working on shirts that could be sponsored and disseminated for “in venue spotting and upgrading and rewarding” purposes.
QYK in Tampa has done some outstandingly loud and visible ware for these kinds of events. But what BOB in Fargo has done with We Fest is pretty historic. They give them out at appearances the weeks prior to the Fest to people who show they have tickets. And then (since they’re not the “official station”) they go around and buy people food, parking and reward label-provided upgrades and experiences to people that they spot. And it’s pretty difficult to miss them.
Show Us Your Mask
They’re not going anywhere immediately so if you have a digital hole that needs to be filled, here is an example of 97 Rock’s promotion from last April. Morning Bull’s ‘Show Us Your Mask’ Gallery | WGRF-FM (97rock.com)
