Song Blower
“Name The Song” is a great methodology dating back to the Mesolithic era but it’s always best when there’s a hook to it. One of the stations had a French Canadian skier singing songs as he tackled the moguls. ID the song and win. The station in Fargo appropriately had listeners try to ID a song as a woodchipper was running at full blast in the back. Power in Miami had people ID music during a Category 5 hurricane. And 97.5 Rock in St. Johns are having a snow blower drown out lyrics. ID, and qualify for a snow blower because “Valentines is going to blow this year.” Song Blower | K-Rock 975 (krockrocks.com)
Fat Cat Tuesday
Jay Kruz summed up social media in three words “kids and pets.”
February 16th is Mardi Gras, ie: Fat Tuesday.
I think that if you asked people to post photos of their large cats, they would. In return, throw them some beads. Whatever “beads” might be in your market. Or beans: free coffee.
Spring Break In A Box
The aforementioned Jay, Mr. Kruz if you’re nasty, did New Years Eve In A Box as an online contest at Mix in Cincinnati in December. Enter to win everything that you would need to celebrate New Years during COVID. This was kind of modeled on something that a grocery store chain here did when the State Fair was cancelled: State Fair In A Box. Go to the store or on-line and order a box of 8 or 9 food items that you would have missed because the fair wasn’t happening.
They sold a ton.
It’s entirely possible that a lot of people are going to pass on travel and crowds this March so what if you brought some clients in and did a Box for Spring Break. Maybe tanning. Food. Netflix. Tickets to local things that might be open. And maybe a bag of sand with a certificate that says “Actual sand from Florida.”
All You’re Missing Is A Rainbow
We’re seven weeks away from St. Patrick’s Day. Your comedic elements for March 17th are anything green, little people, lucky charms, beer and pots of gold.
For Easter every year the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul hides eggs on their website. Go around, clicks on various parts of the site like “Upcoming Attractions” and “Guest Services” and when you spot an egg, click on it, fill in the info and get an entry in a draw. The more you find the more entries you get for some prize packages of things like tickets and lodging.
What if you did that for St. Patrick’s Day? Hide pots of gold, find, click and enter for prizes.
