28 Things You Could Sell For March
Obviously, St. Patrick’s Day is a no-brainer.
FML (Find My Leprechaun) Hide a Leprechaun or Leprechauns on your site. Click on it and get an entry form for a draw. St. Patrick's FML From Island 106 by cprpromo | Free Listening on SoundCloud
Searching For Pots Of Gold > The same concept but with Pots Of Gold on the site. Similar to what stations did for Easter last year with hiding eggs on their site.
Clubs > If you have a club that’s open to a hoard of people, you still need a hook because St. Patricks Day club gigs all blur together. KUBE in Seattle did Bobbing For Potatoes. Wild in Tampa and one of the Newcap stations did Leprechaun Tossing.
St. PJ’s > If events are “frowned on”, then do a pajama party on-line that night, similar to the virtual slumber party that Ted & Amy at 93Q in Syracuse just did.
Mix & Match 4 Leaf Clovers > Stick a grid of 100 on your site and have callers pick two, if they match two, like “Dinner at Cacco Loca”, they win that prize. Done with masks at NOW in SFO.
St. Hat Tricks Day > If you have an NHL team and they have a game on the 17th, do something like Taco Bell did with the DJ hitting free throws: if a player gets a Hat Trick, everyone in town gets a free taco. If they don’t. you can still come in on the 18th and get a soft drink between noon and 1.
Spring Fake > As done by quite a few stations in the past. Kid wins tanning and photoshopped pics of them in Mexico to show their friends.
Spring Break In A Box > A spin on the “New Years In A Box” that Mix in Cincy did, award everything that a kid/family stuck because of COVID would need. Pizza. Tanning. Netflix. Board games.
Spring Broke > As done by Citadel in OKC where they sold beer mugs that could be used and refilled for the low low prize of 97 cents all week at participating clubs.
School Breakfast Week > It’s March 1-7. Everyone has honored teachers, and they should. How about a client sponsoring some digital tributes to the people who have kept low-income kids fed through the pandemic. I have a neighbor who has been at the school making breakfasts for pickup and the work has not slacked off since last March.
Girl Scout Week > March 7-13. They’ll be in the throes of cookies sales. Have a sponsored board or place for girls and their parents can post their info on where they’ll be or a link to their virtual sales. Kind of like “Fish Fry Finder” and “Garage Sale Finder” that some stations have done.
National Physicians Week > March 25-31. If you have not ventured down the Front Line Heroes path, this would be the week to do it.
Free Dentistry Day > February 2nd. Check to see what local participants they have for 2021. Free Dentistry Day - Giving back to communities one smile at a time
Frozen Food Day > February 6th. Nothing says “Dining during a pandemic” like frozen food. You could do something simple on social media about “What’s gotten you through the last year?” but you could also do “UFO” or Unidentified Frozen Object, as done by Peak in Boise. Take a photo of a frozen, iced over Tupperware container in the breakroom freezer that was left there when everyone moved home last March. Guess the contents to win. In Boise it was a freezer full of meat.
International Women’s Day & Working Women’s Day > March 8th. One of the iHeart stations is already working on a “women who lift us up” for Women’s History Month in March.
Organize Your Home Office Day > March 9th. Have listeners share photos of their home workspaces to win client’s services or carryout/curbside food.
COVID Pandemic Day > March 11th. This seems to be the day, at least in the US when it “hit home.” Honor local heroes, push vax info, share tributes to people that your audience has lost.
Check Your Batteries Day > March 14th. A day designated to making sure that your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are fully charged. Maybe a video tutorial by the talent, sponsored by a hardware store or insurance company.
Potato Chip Day > March 14th. People are always posting images that they think look like states or Presidents. Do Rorschach Chip: post a chip and have people tell you what they see.
Pi Day > March 14th It’s about math but some stations have used it to give away pizza or have people sound off on their favorite local pizza.
Kick Butts Day > March 17th. If you have a talent that keeps talking about quitting cigarettes, this is the day that a client can help them start down that journey.
Free Cone Day At DQ! > March 20th.
Proposal Day > March 20th. If you have a jeweler or similarly appropriate client, today would be the day to help a listener pull off a marriage proposal with some panache.
Single Parent Day > March 21. You know those one-time bits that turned out to be so massive that they needed to be brought back once a month? That was “The Single Parent Dating Game” as done at KGGI in Riverside.
National Puppy Day > March 23. Facilitate adoptions. Do “yappy hour” as a charity dog wash at a client. Feature listeners pets.
Weed Appreciation Day > March 28. If you have dispensaries or even just CBD vendors in your market. Maybe there’s a tie-in with Potato Chip Day.
Mom & Pop Business Day > March 29. Yet another opportunity to do a “support local business” day.
National Prom Day > March 31. One of the stations had the entire staff stick their old prom photos on the Promotion Directors door. I think it started with just her and then snowballed. It could be a gallery and the winner gets formalwear for THEIR kids.
