March 11, 2021
This is being used by some as the one year anniversary of COVID-19 and the 13th is also a focus because of WHO’s announcement on that day.
Either date would work for some imaging, graphics and social media content.
This is like the 1st anniversary of 9/11: you really should acknowledge it.
- Push vaccine info.
- Honor the people who have helped us get to the point where there seems to be a list at the end of the tunnel.
- And offer a forum for people who have lost loved ones to post or comment with pictures and memories. The challenge with social media…is then you open up a can of worms and it will degenerate quickly. Have people share with the morning show and maybe they create a video of faces and names.
- Have a visual. The candle has always worked following tragedies like Las Vegas, Parkland and Sand Hook.

Curve Balls
A closing pitcher in baseball has two pitches. A fastball and a curveball. He’ll go up there and throw ten fastballs and then…swoosh…the big hanging curve that strikes them out.
Everything you do is a fastball. So great stations know when to hang a curve. The thing that people aren’t expecting. With The Beat in Vancouver, Wired in Philly and Jammin’ in New London, we mapped out a sked where they threw a curve every six weeks. Like a pocket-dial in Vancouver that accidentally aired some adultery. In Philly it was the AC breaking and they relocated to a listener’s home for a HOT summer weekend…and invited everyone in the market to join them at the pool.
The ”DJ stuck in the elevator” is on the Curve List and I saw a station do it on Friday. Ask and I’ll send the link. But it got the desired response including people making bets on how long until they got him out.
Final Snore & March Badness
Another thing that Radio has done, dating back to fax machines, is have listeners ambush their spouse as they’re waking up and send in a photo of them with bed head.
If you had a mattress client, boom.
Or, March Badness would be another way to fill your tourney void: photos of naughty pets as done by Matt and Ramona at The Link in Charlotte. March Badness 2016 Pre - Promote by cprpromo | Free Listening on SoundCloud
