It used to be a unique experience to have photo setups at events. And then everyone did. And then events got cancelled. But they will slowly come back and with everyone having tablets and photobooths and other set ups, here are a few from the past.

This would be at the other end of the spectrum BUT if there is an event that you’re going to be at for multiple days, this might be it. This was the Beale Street Music Fest and there was a ten minute wait for a chance to step into it and get snapped.

Speaking of snapped, Hot in Ottawa was among the first to hand cards to people giving them instructions of where to look for and download their photos. Yes: we share the pics for the listeners now but if you wanted traffic, this does work.

Garage Bars

This kind of started out as a New Jersey thing and I think that COVID and the explosion of “projects that I can do while stuck at home” really sped it up in terms of it getting into a lot of other markets. In fact the Minneapolis paper did a piece on one on Sunday.

Thank God for the liquor clients who stepped up and sponsored a lot of virtual happy hours and other stuff that we did to serve as a crutch for our listeners in 2021.

So, what if you teamed up and built a garage bar for some listener? I was telling someone yesterday that you would really have to work overtime to get me to text and try to win $1000. But to have a station come out and turn my garage into a bar? HELL YEAH.

I was discussing COVID Remembrance Day with Ken Benson in December and he said he’d just read a WSJ article about the comparison of coming out of the Spanish Flu in 1918 with coming out of COVID eventually. And then Jerry Noble sent me this article, which, granted it’s Bar Stool Sports, is definitely on-target with what is going to occur. So what if you declared it the Best Summer Ever. It would fit the vibe and certainly be far more appropriate then The 103 Days Of Summer. Radio is best when it reflects the emotions of the audience. If they’re sad, be sad. If they’re joyous, be joyous.
