45 Things That You Could Sell For July
And that’s not counting Canada Day on the 1st of the 4th on the 4th. Or the 3rd. They keep switching the date every year. So confusing.
There are a few stations/clusters that are really good at cherry picking one or two of these every month and finding a sponsor.
There are a lot of “food” months. You could sell an appearance or a Facebook Live, or some sampling or workplace deliveries, or go Full Baller on it and do a bracket like iHeart did in Des Moines with Mom & Pop Ice Cream Stores or Entercom in Chattanooga did with Mexican restaurants.
So, here we go
Cellphone Courtesy Month Perhaps a funny Goofus & Gallant kind of video by some of the talent with a mobile provider message worked into it.
Airconditioning Appreciation Days Yet another opportunity for a funny video by the talent about how their AC is broken.
Family Golf Month
Get Ready For Kindergarten Month How about a page of clients specials and also a guest to discuss parental separation anxiety.
National Deli Sandwich Month
Parks & Recreation Month We’ve honored front line heroes. How about honoring the men and women who kept the parks going and open over the past year.
Women And Motorcycles Have a client take one of the talent out for an introduction to the past-time. A video testimonial is assumed.
Beer Bong Days July 1-4 Perfect for a bar or similar client.
Vodka Week July 11-17
National Independent Retailers Week July 18-24 You can never go wrong with saluting local businesses and there is probably a post-COVID hook as we honor the ones that really helped us get to this point.
National Barbecue Ribs Day July 4
Bikini Day July 5 Retro fashions have launched a thousand gallery contests. Have listeners share their old pics from their youth and maybe get a new swimsuit.
Fried Chicken Day July 6
Take Your Webmaster To Lunch Day July 6 Perfect for a client that caters to the lunch crowd.
Chocolate Day July 7
Coca Cola Day July 8th is the birthday of the inventor.
National Freezer Pop Day July 8. Go out and refresh outdoor workers with some, courtesy of a client.
Video Game Day July 8.
Pina Colada Day July 10. Now, if you just had a local bar called O’Malleys….
Slurpee Day July 11th is the birthday of 7-11. Allegedly.
World Miniature Golf Day July 11
Chik-Fil-A Cow Appreciation Day July 13. Their promotion is that if you go in wearing a cow costume, you get a free entrée.
French Fry Day July 13
International Nude Day July 14. Now, I’m just riffing, there’s no such thing as a bad idea….what if you did the Chik-Fil-A thing and award t-shirts….
Macaroni And Cheese Day July 14
National Personal Chef July 16. Sponsored by a grocery client, go to a listeners home, cook and fill their frig with food so they won’t have to cook while a loved one is in the hospital or recently released to come home from the hospital.
National Bridal Sale July 17. Very bracketable. Or do “Always A Bridemaid, Never A Bride” with bridesmaid photos submitted by listeners.
Record Store Day July 17
Ice Cream Day July 18
Hot Dog Day July 21
National Intern Day July 22. Do some food deliveries to workplaces.
Gorgeous Grandma Day July 23. Very social media-ish and sponsorable.
Pajama Day July 23. For the 72 hours after the Valentines PJ Party, the recap photos at KDWB will pull the highest numbers in iHeart. Just saying.
Frozen Margarita Day July 21
Tequila Day July 24
Carousel or Merry Go Round Day July 25. If you need a quick cash hit fundraiser, go and spend an entire day on a carousel and take pledges.
Intl. Water Park Day July 28
Chicken Wing Day July 29
Lasagna Day July 29
Chili Dog Day July 29 Editorial comment: everyone has that food that they’d run across a busy freeway for? This is mine.
Lipstick Day July 29
Chicken & Waffles Day July 30
International Slumber Party Day July 31 There are a few stations that host annual slumber parties but Ted & Amy’s at 93Q in Syracuse is hands-down the most ginormous.
Uncommon Instruments Day July 31 The second Fugitive at KDWB got a part in the Aerosmith “Armageddon” video that was shot here because you HAD to be a musician. So she wrote “recorder” on the form. Maybe this is a talent contest morning.
