An Actual Darn Talent Search

We launched Wild in SFO at a time when there were seemingly a hundred artists in the format that were popping out of that market. So we did a promotion that WPGC had just done, called “Home Jams”. It was a talent search for a new artist who would get representation, a limited pressing and a release party. The winner ended up signing for $$$ with Polygram (and promptly disappearing) but she also had the #1 requested song on Wild, and #3 on the competition. Which drove them nuts.

WiLD in Tampa they’re doing it as Next Up. The winner will get a mentorship session with Cool and Dre’s producers in Miami, recording time and a slot to perform at a WilD show. Next Up New Artist Challenge (wild941.com)

When Hot 89.9 in Ottawa first debuted “Win A Baby!”, that was how it was presented: you could win a baby. And as they’d hoped it blew up, they got all sorts of Mad Press™ and then they finished the reveal and announced that you would be winning about $17,000 in invitro services.
