Totally Inexplicable
I was on a Zoom thing yesterday where we were discussing a bracket contest, but looking for something that was so hyper-focused to that very unique market, that it would be inexplicable to someone in any other market. Like, for instance, a The Best Lutheran Church Lutefisk Dinner In The Twin Cities. Which,, here, would be massive. In Grand Rapids, it would fail miserably.
If you live in certain Canadian provinces, “sheds” are a thing. Everyone has a shed. Your shed is a point of pride. It’s something to boast about. So, 97.5 K-Rock’s station vehicle…is a shed. And now, they’re doing a contest to stick a winner’s shed on wheels. Your Shed’s On Wheels | K-Rock 975 (krockrocks.com)
Board Games
One of the stations has a mall that would like something after the Back To School crush and also a client that is a family resort destination a couple of hours away.
The CHR in the Twin Cities had a Disney family trip to giveaway so we did a family board game event in the center court at Southdale mall. 100 families and 50 boardgames.
The games were all rounded up through staff and friends of friends and anyone else they could find who had these old school games laying around. They weren’t skill games. They were games where you spun a little arrow or rolled a dice. The family that made it to the end got to go to Orlando. The Disney rep called it “The best Radio promotion I’ve seen since I started doing this.”
9/11/21
The recap of last week’s webinar is at the bottom of this page. Here are some updates:
- I was looking at a market where there are already about ten local events happening that day. So one of the station’s is going to do that as a resource for their page: a list of all the memorials occurring that week.
- From a Country station: On (station) we are partnering with the County Sherriff’s office for their event on 9/11 which includes a charity run/moment of silence/guest speakers etc. Our AM show is gonna host it with the Sherriff.
- From an AC station: We’ve been working with a local fire department to find a place to do 2,977 flags on a green space so hopefully we are able to pull that off.
- From a Country station where one of the victims is from a nearby community: So – to honor her, we’re going to ring the bell with the VFD, in (town), just like we did on the 10th anniversary with another VFD.
School Lunches For A Year
One of the stations has a client that is giving them $500 a week to giveaway, anyway they choose, for a month.
$500 can be more than $500. It can be something else.
The Wolf in Greensboro had a similar opportunity but was $300 a day for two weeks. We matriculated and figured out that $300 would buy a kid’s school lunches for a year and framed it that way.
It literally broke the phones.
