“Howdy Folks!”
106.1 Kiss-FM in Dallas had tickets to the Texas State Fair last weekend and “Big Tex” is the animatronic mascot, so they buried his iconic “Howdy, folks!” in stopsets and between songs. And that was the cue to call and win.

I live on a farm and in college we had a cadaver. My gag reflex is pretty good. But eating in the bathroom?
Listeners love little peeks behind the scenes and everyone loves a mystery. Like when someone found a positive EPT test in the women’s bathroom at Entercom. Or when Charlie was trying to find out who was stealing her non-dairy creamer, her only luxury in life, from breakroom frig in Albany.
Or at Q-105 in Tampa where the MJ Show is trying to get to the bottom of who is leaving food in the men’s can. Beasley Bathroom Bandit Strikes Again (myq105.com)
The Last Two Weeks Of September
They’re generally a promotional hole until we get to the beginning of October when Halloween stuff starts to kick in. And group contests which would at least give you something to talk about. And that’s what the Promotion Department is supposed to do: give the talent things to promote.
“Hole Fillers” could be:
- “What The Fall?!”: a secret sound contest specific to the season.
- If your MLB team is in the run for the Series. Which leaves out stations in Minnesota.
- If you didn’t do a School Supply Drive, then, and with some spacing before we get into the November and December beg-a-thon, and if there was a good LOCAL need, boom. This would be a good time to do it.
- Movie tickets and concert tickets fill holes really well but have some fun with them.
- Or….
Halloween “attractions” will start to pop up and these tickets are GREAT prizes. So instead of having people register their email, how about putting a corn hole game in the studio. Facebook Live it as you take callers and throw the bag until one gets in. Whoever was the caller for that “throw”, wins.
