Battle Of The Billboards
My Broadcasting in Peterborough has two great promotions running on two of their brands right now:
Sidewalk Sendoffs
Social media has done all of our research for us. What do people do this time of year? They take photos of their kids’ first day at school and post them. Cool. So they should post them to us too. And 93Q in Syracuse went and sold it. 93Q Sidewalk Sendoff | CONTEST | WNTQ-FM
Tacos & Fries
One of the Max Media stations has a Hardees avail and as you would expect have been offered a bunch of product to give away.
I’m generally not a fan of giving away a prize that it costs more in gas to come and pick up, than the actual prize.
But, there are things you can do with it.
Power 96 in Miami created probably half the contest methodologies in Radio. And the ONE thing that “effed up our phones the worst” according to Kid Curry, was Ticket Blast.
It was presented as the world’s easiest contest. “We’re going to open the phones for twenty minutes. If you get through and we answer the phone, you’ll get 96 lottery tickets.” They’d take 10 or 11 winners but they made it SOUND like they were taking 30 or 40.
The CHR up here did that with tickets to their summer concert at the race track and Hot in Indy did it with movie tickets. KSFM in Sacramento did it with tickets to their boat party. Same freaking response.
So what if you did it with tacos (and a drink) on Tuesdays or burgers and fries on Friday. Again, these are prizes that radio has never had to pay for.
