About once a year you should just go and check to see what the airstaff has put out there. A morning guy in Phoenix had about an eight inch long history of his ratings including such listener-friendly terms as “AQH” and “rimshot signal”.
A guy in Memphis had, and I’m not making this up: “Sorry ladies, he’s married.”
The cohost at KDWB said his favorite musical act was Bread. And he was serious.
Kevin Callahan discovered a pretty amazing talent named Jude whose bio pic was her in a bathrobe in curlers, laying on the couch with a giant bowl of popcorn, watching TV with fuzzy slippers. Her paragraph of info was about her life growing up in a family of traveling beaders. They traveled the width and breadth of this country selling beads for clothing.
Sherri and G-Rant stole celebrity bios.
We’re in Radio. Dare to have some fun with your bios.
Larry The Lyft Guy
I drove a cab for one Summer and it gave me stories for a lifetime. If you had an Uber or Lyft driver who did weather, travel reports or added a twist to an appt. time feature, that could be fun. Or just have someone like Charlie Mitchell at K-Hits in Sacramento, where a cab driver helps out with contests and other stuff.
Plus, of course, there are the stories.
The morning show at KSFM in Sacramento once took PT holiday jobs as a pizza maker, a waitress and as a fragrance spritzer and donated their tips and wages to charity. As opposed to begging for cash donations in a tight time of the year. Maybe that’s a hook for the show to raise a little money. Chris Lane was getting $100 tips for $29 lunch tabs at the Hungry Hunter.
