My Three Songs
The first time I heard this was on KFOG with M. Dung. He’d play three songs and you had to decide what the deeply buried and consistent theme or element that they all shared. I’d listen and play when driving home from my job at another radio station.
And it was hard. I don’t think I ever got one right.
Froggy 92.9 in Santa Rosa is doing it in the middays as The Triple Play. Lunch Is FUN With The Midday Triple Play | Froggy 92.9 (froggy929.com)
$184,134
Massive congrats to Amy, Brook and everyone at myTalk 107.1 in the Twin Cities for another great Project Down & Dirty which is as close to Reality TV as you’re going to get. And that’s good. It wasn’t just that they raised all that money, but the charities are these amazing local organizations. Project Down & Dirty: Construction (mytalk1071.com)
Free Gas Friday
So, instead of doing a $100 for gas every Friday, a very silly Programmer is letting the winner choose between gas or Taco Bell. (See what he did?)
The Best Jock Bio Of 2021
Not a lot of stations have bios but if you do, have fun with it. We’re in Radio. There’s a certain “fun expectation” that people have. My bio for the Ontario Association Of Broadcasters had me as a 6 year-old child prodigy Paleontologist.
So kudos and even an accolade to 3G at Mix in San Jose who has embraced “silly” and committed to it. Evenings with 3G - Mix 106.5 (mymix1065.com)
Also at Mix, they’re recruiting a reporter to cover the AMA’s for them. Be our AMA correspondent! - Mix 106.5 (mymix1065.com)
Turkey Takeover
Following a hiatus of a year, this is returning “somewhere” on Thanksgiving Day.
This is sadly a throw-away day. A day when literally stations do nothing. So, if everyone is doing nothing, why not do something? Anything.
Very simple concept: you’ve given the airstaff the day off and have replaced them with PTT’s: Part Timer Turkeys. All the breaks are gobbled and you stage interaction with “listeners” and the talent.
Why? Why not? You do it to acknowledge the day, because it’s free and because you can.
