I’ve always liked theming months, like KS95 and “APPril” where it’s all about incentivizing App downloads.
WPGC in DC did “SPAM”, which stood for Spectacular Prizes And More. The imaging was amazing and really, since 4% of people play our games, having fun with imaging and winners promos is the real reason to do these things.
And since January really is a big black hole promotionally, what if you umbrella’ed the month, did SPAMuary and lumped all of your prizes under it?
Play It Forward
KSFM in Sacramento had one of the best remote “games” that I ever saw. Just using an eight foot table and some plastic CD shells, they did CD Scramble which basically had people “betting” or predicting what the next song on the station would be. It was kind of like people standing around a roulette table waiting to see where the ball bounced.
One of the OM’s messaged and said that in their market, “Pay It Forward” at Starbucks is really becoming a big thing and is there anything they could do it.
I suggested “Play It Forward”. A couple of times a day announce at :30 that it’s time to play it forward. Go to Facebook and comment what you think the first song at the top of the hour will be, and anyone who gets it correctly get a Starbucks gift card. You COULD give one hint that’s not Googleable, like “We started playing it this Summer” or “’Red’ has a relation to it” and it’s a song with “Stop” in the title.
