Rinks
If you have ice, then you may as well do something with it and people like Robbie Archer with Audacy builds his kids a backyard rink every year. Please note that he worked the logos in.
Mauler at Hot in Ottawa posted an amazing shot of a rink that his kid’s stepdad built. So…if backyard rinks are a thing in your market, do a bracket or gallery contest and give some love to these men who built these things. Prizes could be beer, wings, a grill, coffee or some nice lounging chairs for watching the action.
Ink The Rink
In markets where there isn’t seasonal ice, there is often an indoor place. Often at a mall. Like at Eastland in Charlotte. The first weekend I was there I went to the mall and there was this big rink and three levels of balconies overlooking it including the food court. The 800,000 people a month who went to the mall would sit/stand and stare at the ice.
I introduced myself to the manager who was from Minneapolis, we chatted and I asked if he’d stick my logo in the ice. He said sure but could I help him promote a DARE skating party? Easy. And I supplied the DJ gratis.
It was there for over a year and got over a ten million pairs of eyeballs on it. For basically free. And they realized they could sell space on the ice and I got booted.
I would file this under, “What’s the worst that can happen…they say ‘no’?”
Ink That Stinks
We (Radio) has used anti-romance as a hook for Valentines for decades. We’ve burned, shredded, shot, bent, folded, spindled and mutilated old love notes. We’ve awarded divorces.
But…an iHeart station is going to give away free (from a client) laser tat removal so 32 years later, “PJ Forever” will get taken off my arm and stop poisoning all my relationships.
