Radio is best when it seizes on whatever gadget or toy people are playing with. And in 2022 the audience has the attention span of a Golden Retriever, so, if you wanted to appear to be topical and not wait until March to address Wordle, you could have some fun by doing it with words associated with love, dating and Valentines in a few weeks.

Or just do your own version for tickets. If it’s an artist like, say, Billy Joel who has a thousand songs, do it with song titles and don’t limit it to five letters.

Or, do it with words that might be associated with things in your market that can be done during winter.

A New Grill For The New Year

Teeth-fixing has returned at 97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City. I like that this is a judged contest as opposed to just enter-to-win. One of the TSM stations did that and the winner was someone with great teeth: they were just going and clicking on every link and entering. But also a word of warning: KDWB did it and Kris Cegla said she was off solid food for a week after having to go through all the entries.
