Free Groceries
Phil Becker did a webinar with P1 Research yesterday and he talked about finding alternative prizes, or: “Give the people what they want, need or are talking about. Stock? Bitcoin? Gas?” Well, one of the ESPN affiliates is going to do groceries because the prizes are high and it’s what people will want.
You COULD do it as a theme for a group contest, as Mix in Canton did. (And what’s with all the Mix’s today?)
Or, if you can get giftcards from a grocery client, do those, but for God’s sake, don’t call them giftcards. Image it as “We’re giving away a grocery cart that is so heaping overflowing with groceries that the three wheels that actually work, are straining under the weight.” And then bury “gift card” in the rules.
The ESPN station is going to do The High/Low Grocery Cart and done by Radiowave in Windhoek and one of the Albany stations.
Basically, Terry O’Donnell would go to a grocery store every Sunday evening and load a cart with groceries and take a photo of it.
The manager would scan all the items and come up with total like $227.61 cents, and then return all the stuff to the shelves. On Monday morning they would start playing High/Low and the person who got it to the penny got a $300 gift card. They could milk a week out of one card.
