Katy Perry
If you missed it, she had a slight accident on American Idol and her pants split. She also seems to be the best person that this could ever happen to, ie: she has a sense of humor. Katy Perry Has a WARDROBE MALFUNCTION On American Idol Hollywood Week! - YouTube
“Split Pants” as a topic is great. As a challenge would be better.
Tastimonials
One of the stations has a client that wants to bring in their new product and feed the morning show. Except for maybe iPods, nothing has done more damage to Radio than people eating on the air. I drove to Lansing a couple of years ago and there was some guy with his mouth full of food mumbling about the “fresh vegetables” in the clients gyro as you literally hear the sauce running down his chin.
So, we really don’t want to do that.
What we would want to do is bring it to an office or workplace and let them be the crash test dummies and talk about it. In video form. On social media.
The AE asked, “What happens if the stuff is bad?”. Then don’t post the video. Or find the one person in the room who actually liked it.
Pick Your Prize
The Last Contest is arguably the biggest radio contest in US radio history. It offered hundreds of prize packs that one winner would get to choose from. It begat the Incredible Prize Catalogue Sweepstakes. Which was so successful that the competition’s GM openly complained in a newspaper interview.
It’s the lotto dream: if I win, I’m going to do this and this and this. But instead with an array of prizes to look at and decide which YOU would pick if you won.
One of the Audacy stations tried to sell the prize packages but the AE’s just weren’t into it. “What if they don’t pick his prize?” Well, if they DO pick his prize he gets his investment back. And some.
Hubbard in Northern Minnesota followed by Hubbard in Seattle were able to pull it off, and now so has Hubbard in Minneapolis. Enter once a day on any of the clusters apps and you could be picked.
Chip In
One of the stations has a casino that “wants to be involved with the community.” One way would be to do Chip In For (Market). With the casino, place a receptacle or collection container near cashiers cage and when people take their chips to get cashed out, encourage them to drop one in. If I’ve had a good night and am walking up with a couple of hundred in chips, what’s a $2 chip to me? It’s good karma.
And then rotate the charity or organization that this will be benefitting every month. And they need to be local and not some national charity.
