Baby Formula
It’s not as Universal as toilet paper, but there is a pandemic-related supply issue and Radio is best when it references, acknowledges and assists during these kinds of things. As exciting as cash contesting can be, these silly things called “licenses” beholden us to the needs and concerns of the audience. And for some, that’s baby formula.
First, thanks to Joel Murphy with Alpha for sticking this on the radar.
Rebrand Your Group Contest Next week change it from gas or whatever you’re doing to “Win $1000 In Baby Formula.” Why? To be topical.
Make Your Own Formula…. No. A thousand times no. We were able to do that with hand sanitizer. This isn’t the same thing. In fact, get someone from a health care client to discuss WHY this is a bad idea. And yes: YouTube videos are not the final word on medical issues.
Smokey And The Baby Formula If you are in a northern tier state, right now Canada is not dealing with this primarily because they didn’t have the salmonella recall. So drive up, buy some, come back. And donate to a charity that works with mothers. We’ve done it with Patti LaBelle pies, why not this?
Funds For Formula If you have a mom on the air staff or a woman who is chronicling her journey to mom-hood like Elizabethany, than raise money for an organization that can get this stuff out to the women who need it. But it can’t be a Go Fund Me page. We can do better than that. Mix in Cincy does Request A Thons and raises really good figures with $50 a song. Plus…it’s really fun to listen to.
Left Overs Solicit for left-over or never used NOT EXPIRED formula. Donate to charity.
Formula Finder Have listeners post on social what stores have it and how much do they have in-stock.
Blood Drives
There’s a critical shortage right now. Again, here is a wonderful opportunity to do something for the community.
Blood & Guts A CBS event in Sacramento where people donated blood and signed up to be organ donors. Everyone who came to this one day event got tickets to a horror film screening.
“You’re Just Our Type” A great moniker that has been used in the past.
“Hemoglobin Heroes” Run some imaging that honors the people who go and donate EVERY time. Brent Shelton at Stingray in Edmonton? He’s one of those dudes.
First Time Heroes I still haven’t donated ever. Maybe I will. For first timers, incentivize this with some freebies. Like “Vaccin’eat” and feeding people who got boosted.
Shot At $1000 You know what would move the needle? Literally? Everyone who comes to your drive goes in a draw for 1000 $1 lottery tickets. If you have a good relationship with the state lottery….there ya go.
Uber Van Harden at WHO in Des Moines did a drive. Literally. The station hooked up people and free cab rides to/from. Cumulus in Albuquerque has done this twice with Uber on dates that people traditionally drink and drive: St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo.
If You Have A Comedy Club Have them supply some talent to come and work the room as people donate.
If You Have A Salon Client As people lay there, give them mani’s and pedi’s.
