High/Low
It’s a great contest methodology that actually requires that people might actually have to listen to the radio. I like that. I embrace that.
WiLD in Tampa did it with guessing the total cost a hospital visit would be for one of the morning team who invariably had some disaster every weekend, like falling down an elevator shaft. It was sponsored by an insurance company. The vignette always would slow waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down to get the “Dooooooooohhhhhhhh…..” effect as Ed recalled his adventure. Like the dart scene in “Old School.”
“Ed’s little trip on the garden rake? $974 for an ambulance, $17 for three butterfly bandages, $58 for two Ibuprofin….”
They would then play high/low until someone guessed $7397.12 for that week’s incident, which WOULD be repeated the next weekend. Because that’s how Ed rolled.
Live in Columbia is doing it with the Weeknd and a flyaway to see a concert in Las Vegas. What will be the total cost of the weekend? Know To Go: How Much To Get To Vegas With The Weeknd? - Live 93.5 (live935.com)
Pool Patrol
Promotions is the Art of knowing where the listeners are and then finding an excuse to be there. In Lexington, it’s at backyard pools. So that’s where Mandy and Jimmy head to with pizza. Mandy & Jimmy’s Pool Patrol! – HITS 106.3 LEXINGTON (hits1063.com)
