Bucks For Babe
KS95 in the Twin Cities has a huge and very kind audience. When Crisco’s rescue dog Babe passed away, the audience came up with $94,000 in donations for a local charity called Secondhand Hounds. Wow.

If you have an audience that is pet-inclined, I was on the periphery of a campaign during Operation Desert Storm that had a bunch of vets drive in an RV from KGGI in Riverside to Hot 97 in NYC and every day they would stop in a couple of radio markets and sell military dog tags that they stamped on-site with the name of a soldier who was deployed in the war. They literally sold $200,000 of these and presented the money to a military charity on Letterman or GMA.
So…dogs. Tags for dogs. If you find yourself at a festival or fair and you need a hook, this could be it. There are several different kits and stampers for making these things and it’s swag that people would actually pay for, especially if you have the right charity.
School Supply Drives
Stuff The Bus was first done in approximately 1935 and it’s always worked. A DJ living in a tent in top of a school bus until it’s filled, will always be a homerun.
In Panama City, Island 106 got a couple of hundred backpacks and told the audience what they needed. So I drop off a calculator and it goes into a backpack. Those were then given to low income kids.
Either of these are great for clients who “want something more than a remote.”
With a lot of teachers having to raise the supplies themselves, then incentivize it. I don’t see many of you being able get this approved but 96.1 in San Antonio basically “won Back To School” in 2019. The teacher who had the biggest collection, won a chance to go skydiving. You have limo trade? Cool. The three teachers who raise the most get limo rides to/from the first day of classes.
Or a pizza party for his/her class. Pizza: the most readily available to Radio food…EVER.

They all had a distinct “sound” to them. So Power 96 in Miami used that feel for some Spring Break imaging. Spring Break Power 96 Promo by cprpromo (soundcloud.com)
