(Market) Mommies
One of the Market Managers saw the Military Monday’s feature that WQYK in Tampa and asked if I’d seen anything that worked for a Female audience and with the opportunity for multiple clients to get on board. Easy: a station up here did Minnesota Mommies.
It was a chance to honor hard working single moms in their audience. And they had a bunch. Friends, family or coworkers would enter them and their unique situation. “Here’s Charlotte and here’s all the stuff she does in addition to her job and she gets the kids to school and they’re clean and they’re fed and they great students.” As an example.
On Friday the morning show would call Charlotte and read her what her friend had said and 90% of the time she’d start crying. And then they would load her up with products and services. And they always included a $100 Target giftcard because of the listeners of THAT station, that’s the best prize ever.
And like Christmas Wish, if an entry had something unique like a specific need in that family, they’d call up a a client and they’d graciously supply what was needed. Like a wheelchair ramp or a new washer because theirs was broken and they hadn’t had the time or money to get it fixed.
And like Wish, the payoff is the promo.
Movie Mom Panel
About to start somewhere. The moms on the staff will do a Friday morning feature about that weekend’s films and whether they’re appropriate. I once saw a woman take her two little kids into “Bad Santa”, apparently thinking it was a Disney flick. They left after about ten minutes.
Manicure For The Cure
From a station that, sadly, must remain nameless: Manicure for the Cure ------- Get local salons and day spas to donate their time and supplies for a marathon broadcast the 1st weekend in October at a client location. Ladies are encouraged to come to the client and recieve $5 manicures (which evidently is a huge bargain). Every penny will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Hoping that we'll raise lots of money, get some press and have one very happy client. Then 2 weeks later, we do another event called "Pedicure for the Cure"
