The Maritimes got pounded on Saturday.
Hurricanes are like blizzards: they are social media events. JACK in Halifax did a great job of providing data and also engaging the audience with some posts that invited a response, ie: “Here’s how we’re hunkered down. Share what you’re doing.”
Have An Affair With Adam Levine
Kudos (and even an accolade) to Cat and Tracie at Movin’ in Seattle for QUICKLY taking a Vegas flyaway to see Maroon 5 and making some tweaks to the imaging.
Treat Street
One of the stations was looking for something easy and sellable for Halloween.
It’s long been traditional for print media to highlight communities and neighborhoods that go All Griswold for Christmas. But over the last 10 or 20 years more and more blocks put a concerted effort in Halloween. Mu sister-in-law’s neighborhood looks like Disney.
So solicit and have a map of the best blocks in your market. And then post a grid or listing.
Pizza Hut…Hut…HUT!
Pizza and wings are the two foods that seem to be associated with football and the Super Bowl is the biggest pizza delivery day of the year.
Could you, three weeks into the season get Pizza Hut to sponsor a Monday recap, or pool, or Friday morning prediction, or local high school athlete spotlight? Maybe. And it would be great if you could. Could also be done as Bowl Patrol for the college games in December and January.
Or look towards February and do:
- A competition between delivery drivers
- A ride along and video by one of the talent
- When Dan Seeman and I were 11 we worked at a station where someone who registered at a client got a chance to kick a soccer ball at a target. If he made it (and he dinged it) he’d split $99,500 with a charity. He still got $995. Doing an extra point for an insured prize on the Friday morning before the game, would be something that the Hut would eat up if to qualify people downloaded BOTH yours and theirs app,
- Game day deliveries
- Office betting pools with the winning office getting Hut For A Year.
- A charity flag football game between the employees of two Huts.
- A betting board. It’s kind of a Midwest thing but I can walk you through it.
