Gas The Vote Out
One of the CHR’s once did a “No Excuses Weekend” for Mothers Day and awarded prepaid calling cards so that winners would have NO excuses not to call their mom.
If you had some calling cards for Monday the 7th, well, there you go. “We’re buying your gas. You literally have no excuses not to get in your car, drive over and vote.”
Encouraging people to vote is one of the FEW stands you can take right now with a minimal chance of angering a bunch of people.
Or, do what Cumulus in Albuquerque has done for “heavy drinking holidays” and get people Ubers to the polling place.
January Sales
It will, as it always is, be “soft”. So, if you could get some packages on the streets now you might be a step ahead of the competition.
At least here in Minnesota, it appears that ski areas will be open but the lodges and dining may be affected. What we know from this past Winter is that people stayed close to home and recreated at lakes and in yards. Here? I bet it will be ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and sledding. Knowing that, use that as your starting point.
I have a Sales package from a station that did Snow Patrol and hit ski areas every weekend. If that’s possible in your little corner of reality, let me know and I’ll send you the package.
Brackets work. That’s something that we’ve learned since last March. What Entercom in St. Louis did was “Food Fights” and every week they did a voting competition for Best (genre/type) of food. Wings. Mexican. Chinese. Burgers. Craftbeer. The winning place got some marketing and one of the people who voted got $ to spend at the winning place.
We most assuredly know that photo galleries work during COVID. So, what would be specific to your market in January? In the Twin Cities? It was snow drifts and yes they sold it.
Everyone has done Man Cave. What if you did a garage full of client’s products and services as “Garage Mahaul.”
Things that you can do from home? Guess the number of something. Things that people want? Products or services that they can use at home. Which is why this is a home run. Who doesn’t want a hottub?
One of the great Back To School promotions is “Dream Dorm” where you build a dorm room in a stanchioned off area in the middle of the mall, and fill it with items from mall retailers. Guess the total value of everything in the “room” and win it all. You could guess, or you could take your entry form which listed every item and store, and just stroll around as you shopped, go into the participating stores where the item was prominently displayed with a BIG price tag on it, jot it down and then add them all up. So, 95% of the entries got it to the penny.
This is absolutely doable on-line with a yard full of stuff or a garage or room full of stuff. Visit the clients (their links would be right there) and get the prices, add and submit. Boom.
