Family First Timers
Not to be confused with the Caballero Home Video series of the 1980’s, this Hot 99.1 promotion is sending a family who have never been to a baseball game, to a baseball game. It’s kind of similar to what Cassiday did at Kiss in Charlotte where she would go and do something for the first time (like going skating or to a Marvel movie) with listeners who shared that void in their lives. It was great. And then the morning show consultant canceled it. HOT Family First Timers | HOT 99.1 (hot991.ca)
Project Prom
99.7 DJX in Louisville is on their version of Gown Town. You have very little time left to do this on your own. If you can tag onto some kind of local effort and throw your big voice behind it, that would be great. Project Prom! - 99.7 DJX (wdjx.com)
The concept is simple:
- Collect used prom dresses
- Have a client clean them
- Do a sale to raise money for a worthy charity
The Best Of Past CRS’s
At conferences I sometimes like to stop the attendees in their tracks and ask the room:
Q: “Why do radio stations have vans?”
This will get stunned silence and someone will reply “To haul our (bad term) around”. But also
A: When radio stations started to really embrace vehicles, ie, everyone had one, the teen audience trend dictators thought vans were cool. In 2022 I can’t imagine many kids begging their dad for a boogie van. (We had one. I was super fly).
Joey Tack asked the room, “Why do we insist on talent wearing polo shirts?” which got a groan from the room and a few managers slunk down in their seats.
