Easy Peasy April Fools
On Saturday run a “final day to register your dog for the new (your state) pet tax” spot. I have one written up.
And then change the date and post this on your social media.
And giving hope for the future, a morning show is going to do an appearance at a client where you AND your pet can get matching tattoos.
Hear For Good
One of the stations is trying to bundle and umbrella their “charity stuff” that they do in their market. So it’s cohesive and not just one nice thing after another after another. This was the name they came up with.
Grad Parties
First, Global Media One is awarding senior photos to a member of the Class of 2023. $500 value. They’re getting it for mentions. Helluva prize.
Grad parties have taken on a life of their own over the past 30 years. They’re EVENTS and a real budget breaker for parents. I can’t think of a station that doesn’t have a client that will pony up food. And not pizza. Throw in a cake, some party rental stuff and you have a great package. But I’d start on it….now.
Pick Your Prize
This is one of those methodologies, like Last Prize Standing that engages the audience and has them going over the prizes you have and planning which one they’d choose.
“But our clients don’t want to see their prize not get picked!” A semi-valid argument, so when Joe Bell did it at Power 96 they worked with the participants to sexy-up what their prize was. It wasn’t 1000 rolls of sod, it was, “Win Your Personal Joe Robbie Stadium” and they threw in a giant thing of Gatorade.
Why do they want their prize picked, in addition to the whole ego thing? Because the station will buy it back from them. I invest $5000 in a schedule and get it back.
Hubbard in Brainerd was the first to effectively weaponize this and make a bunch of money off it. Their sister station in Seattle followed on that and now myTalk in the Twin Cities has several $10,000 packages to choose from. MyTalk 107.1 Stream Player (mytalk1071.com)
Enter by downloading their app and going back each day for another entry.
Large. Very very large. And I have Seattle’s sales piece if you are polite and ask nicely.
