“Things That Are Dirty”, for $500 Alex
Rob Mise shares this bit where a morning show went and searched for the “dirtiest radio in the UK” and then tried to get it listed as “art” and placed in a museum. Britain's dirtiest radio put on display outside Tate Modern - and passes for art - Mirror Online
This is the time of year where people are going to be hauling out ATV’s, grills and other seasonal things that have sat and collected dust and mud all winter. If you have a client, this could be a “thing”. (My grill would win)
Show Us Your Fish
Social Media has done all of our research for us. If you catch a fish, what do you do with it? You post a pic. Duh. Here is Dan Seeman with some fishing buddies. (It’s amazing what an M80 in a pond will bring up)
Wheeler Broadcasting in Roanoke and DBC in Myrtle Beach have done their own versions of this.
So if your listeners fish, you have a contest.
When You’re The Promoter
If the event is yours, you have so many liberties that it would be a shame not to take advantage of them. Like “VIP” viewing locations like towers and hot tubs. (This looks kinda rinky dink but this viewing platform for clients at the Beale Street Music Fest was literally eye level with Lenny Kravitz) And the porta potties which are another of life’s universals. A crafty Sales person with Froggy 92.9 sold ad space in the Country Summer potties to a DUI attorney.
Dorm Raiders
This has been a traditional promotion for CHR’s during finals week: you go out to dorms during finals week and drop off energy drinks and pizza and coffee and whatever else you can scrounge up. Kiss in Albany did it last year with Dunkin Donuts.
