Rock & Roll Bingo
KOZE in Lewiston is always looking for excuses to drink and bond with the audience so a bingo night was perfect.
From Lee McVey: We entered 75 - 80's hair band terms into a spin wheel app. Then spun at random. We also played those songs and bands all night on the PA. We mixed in butt rock trivia for additional prizes. The grand prize was worth $500. (2 tickets to Steel Panther and an overnight stay at the hotel at the venue.)
On another Bingo note, K-Rock in St. Johns did $5000 Bingo as a ratings contest. Call and win a bingo card. Win as many as you could and then join the station at a client’s location on a Saturday for bingo and food. There were prizes for lines, X’s and corners, and $5000 for the blackout.
In case you have a client that has $ for the prize and a space to do it.
May The 4th
First, if you ever deal with Mark Adams, know that he’s a huge Star Wars fan. Huge. So if you say something like “I love Star Wars too. Spock should have had his own spin off…” that will get a five minute diatribe about the difference between Trek & Wars.
One thing you could do is have the true fans share their memorabilia. Or, have listeners post shots of their spouses wall ‘o swag.
Do “Trek Or Wars” and have callers ID the film or series based on a reference.
Or have listeners Leia-ize their hair. Points for cinnamon roles.
Tribute/Rally Songs
It’s fun to occasionally take a song and stick some audio into it in regards to something trending ot topical. My personal highlight was when everyone was sticking Titanic audio into the Celine song, KS95 instead stuck audio from “Fargo” into it. It was funny AF.
Cat Thomas has a history of doing this. With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 he did it with a DJ Sammy song and it literally got global airplay. Like in place like Romania and India and other places that end with “ia”. Sadly he went away for awhile for an SEC violation for going deep on Scott Tissue stocks that week. And it effed up his daughter who voiced it, for a long long time.
With the Golden Knights going to round two, he was up late last night.
When the Twins were in the World Series the station I was at did it with a Stacy Lattislaw song called “Nail It To The Wall” and updated game high lights. Hands down the most #1 requested song on a station with a 10 share.
