Crack The Code

Since the Marconi Era of Radio, having people track guesses and try to come up with the correct four digit combination to “open a safe”, has been a great contest. And it’s been fun to see stations get into the theme and have fun with imaging the station as having some kind of big subterranean vault.

A station in Australia has done it as the Cash Van and have accessorized the station vehicle to look like an armored car. They sell appearances where you can go and try random numbers on the key pad. Like state lotteries, there were prizes for matching 2 or 3 of the digits.

The 10K Getaway

Great promotions will suck them in and get people dreaming about what they’d do or where they would choose to go if they won. Like the stations in Juneau have been doing with their “Go anywhere Delta flies” contest. That’s a lot of choices.

94.9 Mix-FM in Cincinnati is doing it with $10,000 and having people download the app and then listen for codewords.

Mom ‘N Me

A lot of photo contests happening this week. This one is at Minnie Media in Portland, Maine and the theme is great: a photo of you and your mom.

Fathers Day is in a month. Get your galleries on the streets ASAP. It could be you and your dad, it could be Dad’s Best Catch (dad and a fish), it could be Chill’in Dad with dad just relaxing. But there’s $ to be made with galleries.

Designer Shirts

We’re Radio People and as such are trained to think like Radio People. Which is why we all look and sound the same. Usually.

In the 1980’s radio stations in the Twin Cities discovered that they could make the GDP of Namibia at the Minnesota State Fair by selling station gear. KS95 has turned it over to the audience to design their Fair swag and the art that they get is ridiculous. Amazing non-Radio-ish designs.
