The Stuff That Sirius Can’t Do
Sirius can’t evoke emotions, which is something that great stations do. Sports championships aren’t like earthquakes or tornados: you have some lead time to prepare. From Cat Thomas at Beasley in Las Vegas:
Tonight The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. My morning guy, Shawn Tempesta and our afternoon talent Sammi Reeves came in, broke format and played party songs to celebrate the VGK win. The entire town is going crazy and they took our station and put it in the moment. As the PD, I 100% approve them breaking format, taking our station into the moment and it also confirms my decision to hire these people to be a part of the 102.7 VGS family. You win with people and I have the best! And by the way we are renaming the station to 102.7 VGK this week! This is why radio can be great. It isn’t curated playlists. It’s the people!
Since we won the WNBA championship and now the Stanley Cup, I went ahead and bought www.ThisIsWinCity.com (play on Sin City) and www.VegasIsWinCity.com Click the links and it takes you to our VGS site and Jammin site! #ThisIsWinCity

More Great Moments In Format Breaking
Since a lot of people will be driving from Ohio to see the Taylor shows in Pittsburgh this weekend, Mix in Canton is going to flush the format and play all Taylor songs to serenade people on the long drive back.
Purse Bingo
One of the stations was looking for something for Thursday nights for a bar/restaurant client. They blew them away with another event so the client is coming back for more. This is a good thing.
Y94 has done Purse Bingo on Wednesdays. The client pops for the purses and Zero and Amy run a night of bingo and purse giveaways. Big? It got ticketed by the fire department for overcrowding.
