Canada Day/4th Of July Vehicle Music
There are going to be literally too many parades to be in some markets. It’s just way way too easy to get out in front of a LOT of people. A lot of people who haven’t seen a station in a long time.
As great as having the SUV in the parade is, you should hopefully be blasting music. Can you reach out to a car stereo place and see if they’ll loan you some speakers to either place on the roof or facing out the back door?
Also, either bump the spots or have a playlist on a device that you can dump into. This comes from a guy who blasted a commercial for Yeast Guard at 10,000 people at the Kings Mtn Christmas Parade in South Carolina.
Preston & Steve
One of the commonalities that you’ll see with great stations, is that they have great talent. Preston, Steve and WMMR are a perfect example. From Market Manager Joe Bell:
Yesterday reminded me of why I love P&S….
With the collapse of I-95, they decided to go out and interact with the long lines of traffic that have been rerouted during this crisis.
Armed with Dunkin Donuts, gift cards and SWAG, a team of nearly a dozen people hit the streets.
Except….for whatever reason, there was almost no traffic!
And here’s where they excelled. They turned the whole thing around…..talking about the “bumper to bumper traffic…except the bumpers are 25 feet apart.” The self deprecation (There was traffic there yesterday!, blaming each other for who picked the location, etc) was outstanding. The whole thing was awesome.
And that’s why they’re number one. Oh, that and the fact that Friday the “I Bleed for Preston and Steve Blood Drive” collected over 1,100 pints of blood. It’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest independent blood drives in the U.S.
Great radio stations do great things in their communities….and have fun doing it!
The Playlist Payback
You could win $100,000 from Y94 in Fargo just for picking the RIGHT three songs, in order.
Lotto
One of the stations just got an insane number of lottery tickets. They’re going to do the Blizzard Of Tix. Ten listener each get ten seconds blindfolded in a wind machine to grab as many as they can.
