Incentivizing The Promo Staff & Talent
Like just about every other industry, Radio has put a strong emphasis on data mining and collecting emails and contact info.
The local casino here wants emails. They want to market and send offers to the customers and lure them back with prizes and freebies. So…they’ve turned it into a contest. The Guest Relations rep who can add the most emails to the database in July gets a $50 Amazon card. It doesn’t sound like much but everyone on the staff is driving hard for the hoop.
You can’t go to a station site without a panel dedicated to pushing the app. Cool. You’re going to find yourself at fairs, fests and concerts this summer. As people come up to the booth, have the promo staff and talent offer to help them download the app. “Download it today and get an entry in a drawing for (food is always Gold.)” The station employee with the most confirmed assisted downloads on Labor Day gets a gift card or a weekend at a hotel courtesy of a client.

It’s sad when TV does Wacky™ better than us. From JJ Ryan at iHeart in OKC where local TV personalities were slamming McDonald’s shakes in honor of the anniversary of The Grimace.
Laugh & Lose
This is a feature that they do at ‘DJX in Louisville. It’s a version of the 1970’s game show where contestants would have 60 seconds in a chair while up and coming comedians like David Letterman and David Brenner would use their best material on them.
