Be Afraid....Be Very Afraid

A couple of months ago my very good and very talented friend Jeanne Ashley at Star 102 in KC did an experiment. She writes for a publication that is marketed to AC stations. So she did a customer service check: she emailed or "commented" through station websites, hundreds of DJ's from AC radio stations.

She had a fake email address and she'd send a note about having just moved to town and she loved the station, did they ever work in Kansas City, or some other quick question about music or concerts.

And then she kept track of who responded. And it was pretty sad/scary. Most did not. Did not so much as hit reply and type "Thanks for listening!"

That's actually kind of pathetic.

So....I did the same thing. I hit all of my US clients' DJ's. And most of their competitors.

I'm not going to out the people who didn't respond. What IS interesting is that there were stations or clusters that across the board, replied, replied quickly and replied personably. And "I'm just saying" that these stations all have killer numbers. Just saying.

Do this. It's a terrific customer service test. In the meantime, here is:
