To add to "Most of your listeners will never ever be in a limo, so if you can add that as a Grand Prize, it'll be a nice tweak to the contest" and "Any time you can get at-work listeners out and away from work, eating/socializing/playing, it's a homerun" (plus three other that escape my mind at this exact moment), comes this Universal:
Any time you invert your message, it gets peoples attention.
If you've ever put up a billboard upside, you'll know what I'm talking about: phones EXPLODE. And then you act incredulous and thank them for pointing it out. So when X-107.1 on Grand Cayman tweaked their format and put up some bus shelter boards, they did them upside down. Including the logo on the website.
Phones exploded and hilarity insued(tm)
Alternative Idols
I lobbed out iPod Idol awhile ago. Kid Carson at The Beat in Vancouver did "Rollercoaster Karaokeeeeeee..." last year. Strapped a minidisk to listeners and had them sing on a coaster. They did the same thing with listeners riding mechanical bulls.
