As Seen At Walmart
This was so obvious. Can't believe we all missed it. I have photos of Mike Taylor from Clear Channel in San Antonio trying to get caught on camera and posted to the website of scary customers, if you would like to see them.
Maney from Q-107.5 had a great idea; Walmartize the airstaff and use the photos (as if they were grabbed from the asseenatwalmart.com site) as their bio shots. Bing. We have a winner.
Works Every Time
Congrats to Ace & TJ where they hosted their annual "We'll Play Anything Day". They raised over $17,500 for their charity, Grin Kids.
Sex And The City 2
A couple of the stations have hit web gold when they've solicited photos of workplace booty call spots. Because every workplace has one. What if you did Sex And The Office and posted photos. Audience votes for the best at-work nookie lounge and that entire staff gets tickets to the screening.
The Big Throwdeo
The reason most contests suck (and consequently no one plays them) is that there's no show biz to it. We tell the audience in advance everything that is about to occur; "caller ten this hour wins Taylor Dayne tickets!" As a non-contest player, there's no reason for me to listen. I know what's going to happen. Which is why stuff like Beat The Bomb and Delete Your Debt resonates. Here's a contest where you have to predict how long the DJ will stay on the bull.
Cut Outs Of Cut Up's
Ocean 100 in Charlottetown did a version of a contest that Paul Kaye did over at BRMB in Birmingham. Two listeners each with a standup cutout of the morning show. They had to take it everywhere for 15 days to win a Taylor Swift concert flyaway. Listeners had a shot at $1000 by taking pics of the two contestants when they're out and about. http://ocean100.com/index.asp?mn=4&id=4416&f=1
