How To Own This Weekend
If you don't have a central location like a festival or theme park that you're locked into, that's not the end of the world. In fact, it frees you up.
The way to get the most out of THAT situation is:
- Figure out every "body" you have available. Promotions Dept.? EVERYONE works.
- Put together list of every place you'd WANT to be
- Layout a series of calls. Every 20 minutes. From Friday evening at 5 pm to 12 midnight on Sunday the 4th. Every time you talk, we're checking in with (street teamer/DJ), who is at (place). KLUC in Vegas and Wired in Philly have done great jobs of piggybacking the calls, ie: Send it to Paige at Square Lake who does a quick audio painting of what's happening there, and he/she then sends it to Montana who is at the 50th & France Arts Festival, she does her thing and sends it back to Oake who continues on with the music.
Vehicularly, there will be a dozen parades that weekend. You need to prioritize, look at start times, distance between and work out a plan to be at as many as possible.
You also tell people to listen to the on the night of the 4th because starting at dusk, you've synched your music to EVERY fireworks in the metro area.
You will own it.
(Dressing) Room Raiders
Jamz 96.3 in Albany had Summer Splash on Wednesday. Great lineup. They went and cleaned out the dressing rooms and grabbed stuff like an empty Grey Goose bottle from 'Lil Jon's room. For us? Garbage. For a listener? A huge prize. For the 1000th time, somewhere in the Carolinas is a woman in her mid-30's who has, I'm sure, a Domino's pizza box that Jo Jo Wright stole from NKOTB's dressing room in 1990 and gave away the next night. (Was it actually their dressing room? Who knows? Who cares?) Phones melted.
