But First
Congrats to Jamz 96.3 for a very successful Summer Splash show. In addition to raiding the artists garbage and stealing booze bottles and other refuse for giveaway, their legion of photogs took over 2000 shots of listeners as they came and later exited. They were all handed cards with the web address on it and directions to go and download their photo starting the next morning. All pictures also had the logo stamped on them.
And Second
From John Shomby at 97.3 The Eagle in Norfolk. (The Hotourage are from their sister station, Hot 100.5):
Country Throwdown concert here. All day show......(I think you know the concept - Vans Warped producers doing country)..
Both us and our competitors broadcasting live from venue......they from their booth and we from our....BUT....had our other jocks roaming the grounds with cell reports as to what was going on in various areas. Gave impression we were everywhere.
We borrowed Hotourage ladies....and had 4 more interns....put them all in nice, easy to see, Eagle t-shirts and they greeted folks coming in. About 10 of them....our competitor had one jock and one road crew member at their booth.
The other guys, earlier in the week, gave away logoed "Take Me Backstage shirts for listeners to wear at the show. We gave out (with our 25 road crew folks and at our booth) 500 "Eagle Concert Crew" lanyards good for all concerts.....we could spot them for upgrades and backstage passes. Lanyards are also numbered and listeners go to our web site to register the number and join our Eagles' Nest OR, if they already are a member, just insert the number....we use the number for later on air upgrades, etc.
How many shirts did we see?......ZERO...Nada!!!!........LOTS of folks wearing those lanyards......printing up 500 more for Brooks and Dunn concert in two weeks.
Their jock had a non-station shirt on and a lanyard with all of his cluster's logos on it. Our jocks....all in the white Eagle t-shirts......
Finally, their guys (or guy) packed it all up after their broadcast at 7pm.......we had the 25 girls in their shirts saying goodbye to the 3,000-plus leaving at the end of the show.
