Beaches & Beach Bars
One of the stations has a pitch out to tanning oil clients to sponsor "Tan Man". As exciting as it is to give out individual packets of lotion at remotes, their idea is to have a hunky street teamer walking the beaches, spraying listeners down with product.
And from the lovely and talented Rocco The Janitor at Kiss on Grand Cayman: We've had massive success with a Treasure Hunt. Beach bar Calico Jack's let us rope off a huge square of sand on their beachfront and we bury 100 numbered poker chips in the sand. Each chip links to a sponsored prize. Beer sponsor, umbrellas the whole thing, natch. People sign up for times to dig in the sand. Depending on the size of the square, no more than 6 people per 10 minute period. It can last a few hours. Throw a charity angle into it and it's a blast.
Baubles
We are now heading directly into Class Reunion Season at warp speed. The whole GOAL of returning to deal with these people is principally to re-write history. Rodeo Drive jewelers fight to loan their wares to stars to wear and show off at awards shows. Decking out a listener in some serious bling for a night would be great. It could be done with anonymous submissions of tales of horror from back in the day. Vote on the drama and that person will get to go back in style.
Beds
For years at their old building near the Dome, KDWB had an autograph wall. No listener who ever visited the station didn't just get caught like a deer in the headlights when they passed it. One of the stations has a home furnishing store that wants to give away beds. If you have a concert, or, room in the prize closet, have the mattress there and every time an artist comes through, have them sign it. Then auction it off at Christmas.
"Automobile?"
I've taught my 9 y/o Chinese daughter to refer to cars like Long Duk Dong. My wife hates me. Cars appear to be back with a vengeance. One station has no less than three to give away. My idea was...wait for it...win a key that could start a car!!! Another station is THIS close to putting their car in the middle of a mall, ringing the third level with qualifiers who each get a stack of white copy paper. On cue, they start writing their "number", folding and flinging. The first paper airplane through the sun roof wins.
