Baby Gaga
Anytime you have parents dressing their children up like whor...pop stars, well, that's just GOOD FUN. Y-94 in Fargo is knee deep in potential complaints to child protective services with their lure of tickets for people who will trick out their tots. http://www.y94.com/whats-hot-details.php?ID=64
Campus Craze
There are markets where the local university is a big player in the lifestyle of community. Minneapolis is a great example. KZIA regularly does Move-In Day where the entire staff is at UI greeting students and their families and helping them move in to the dorms. Wild in Tampa? Actually relocated the night show to campus housing for a few weeks and did the show from there.
The Beat in Vancouver has one of the better street teams in Radio. They do something called Campus Craze where they flood the university with activities and events during the first week school is back. And they sell it. Lots of Campus Invasion and Storm The Dorms happening this week.
The new thing, as of a year ago? Doorhangers. You hand them out to the kids. Ask nicely at nwcpromo@earthlink.net and I'll get you an example.
Little Rascals
The Eagle in Norfolk has mixed up their Rascal Flatts contesting so there's some on the streets, some on the air and some on the web. As EXCITING as "go to the VIP Club and register your name for tickets!" can be (and it is the epitome of 'show business'), they decided to go a different route with it. They posted photos of a few dozen children and voile': you just had to match the kids who turned out to be Country stars, to their grown up photos.
