Contexting
With all of the appt. time adjustments that people make and concern about clutter, good prizes like movie tickets (if you doubt the value of a free movie ticket, you've been in Radio too long) are getting buried in VIP Clubs and remote giveaways.
Q-102 in Philadelphia and Wild in Tampa are among the stations that have just taken random callers or people who are requesting songs and hooked them up. Not a prize...a reward. "Michael at San Quentin just called in to request House Of Pain and we're going to hook him up with some passes to the mini-sprint races in Concord just for listening."
Jo Jo Wright, when he was at Wild in SFO used to just take pages and call them back, chat, and say "Come by the station. I'm going to leave some tickets at the front desk for you."
It's not a burdensome contest with three mentions. It's just, and here's the word again, a reward for being a fan of the station.
Could/should be done with texting.
Comrex Ap's
From Clay Walker at The Wolf in Greensboro:
For stations that use the Comrex Access for remotes, there's now an app for that...

iPhone app looks clunky, which of course, I have...but word on the street is they have a full-featured app for that soon...
