Bullying

There are several stations that are about to "pop" town hall meetings on bullying. Good. Do it quickly because there will be a stampede of stations jumping on the boat.

From Dave Chaffin at Townsquare in Cheyenne: AM650 KGAB News/Talk Cheyenne, Wyoming presented a statewide school bullying townhall meeting in conjunction with the Bulling Hurts Program and the State of Wyoming Dept. of Education back in May of this year. It was held in the school district auditorium and was WAN casted to some 20 other school districts around the state and broadcast live on KGAB and over our live stream at kgab.com.

We invited members of School Board, law enforcement, the legal community, city government, the mental health community, members of the State and Federal Depts. of Education, candidates for governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction to be on our discussion panel and members of the community including parents, teachers and students to attend and ask questions from the audience. Listeners and WANcast audience were invited to submit questions via email.

This was a huge success and lasted nearly 2 1/2 hours, and there werew a tremendous number of comments and suggestions received from the panel and the audience and according to the U.S. Department of Education, was the first statewide townhall meeting on bullying ever held.
