Some Morning Show Bits
This link is logged under Morning Show Prep, so to keep this slot and avoid being bumped into "Ten Questions With A Christian Programmer", here are some old bits from around the CPR Worldwide Love Network.
"Robbing The Candy Machine"
Go down to the station vending machine and kick it and beat it until an item falls out (FYI: a filing cabinet will also provide the same SFX). Take the item back to the studio and listeners call and guess what it is. People go crazy guessing all the different types of chips, candybars and gums that could have dropped.
"Office Break-In"
Similar to the candy bit or the tried and true "What's In My Pocket", this bit has the morning show possessing a master key to all the offices at the station. They "break-in", rummage around and steal an item. It's funny when you play out that you're in the GM's office, and people instantly stereotype what type of item it could be, like golf clubs or cigars. People guess the identity of the item to win whatever prize you're offering.
"Payphone Scramble"
Send an intern out to find a payphone that accepts incoming calls. Give out the phone number, but scramble the digits. The first person to unscramble the digits, call the intern, and scream "Give me my tickets, bitch!" wins. It's great because tons of people all over town are picking up their phones to hear someone yell "Give me my tickets, bitch!" Unfortunately you don't get the audio of the winning call...plus there's the inevitable complaint calls to the PD.
"The Baby"
Anyone who has seen "Jackass" on MTV has probably seen the fake baby stunts that have been done. Same concept here. With a fake baby the Wild 98.7 morning show has "accidentally" left it on the roof of a car and driven off, dropped it over the edge of a pier and numerous other tasteless pranks.
"Guess The Nationality"
The morning show makes a random call somewhere in the U.S. and the listener has to guess that person's ethnicity or nationality.
"Munchkin Theater"
The morning show sucks on some helium and acts out a scene (a few lines) from a popular or famous film. The first listener to call and ID the movie, wins
Novocaine Theater
Same bit but with a jaw full of the good stuff. C'mon; who DIDN'T laugh their ass off at the Dudley Moore scene in "10"?
