File For St. Patrick's Day, Proms & Graduations
Clifton had a great line: All the ratings gimmickry in the world can't beat a station that's emotionally connected to its listeners.
It's true and you don't get that connection through club gigs or station concerts or cash contests or VIP Clubs. You get it by at least pretending to care about your listeners.
Kiss in Boise is #1 with a "!" and has a great pitch count. Some cash, into a trip, into a concert, into something webby, and, when something happens in the community, they drop everything and address that. Because you're going to look stupid and insensitive doing The Birthday Game when the city is joined in grief over some tragedy.
In Spring, Keke does Live For 175 where he runs seven marathons in seven days to raise awareness of child abuse. For New Years Eve Lucky The DJ wrapped up a two part tutorial on what you can expect if you get busted for drinking and driving. These are GREAT videos that were done in conjunction with the local PD.

With everyone doing club gigs and station concerts and cash contests and VIP Clubs, the playing field is wide open for anyone who wants to do something that the audience actually cares about.
