Famebook
It's not "Dinner On The Mayflower" or "Family Four Packs", but one of the more elderly morning show bits is to award a prize to the listener who gets a Christmas card from the most famous (subjective) person. Or can get that person to phone in.
What if you did that with Facebook Friends? It's got to be the celebs actual FB page and not a fan page. It also allows the morning show to add a few famous people to their Friends list also. Good connections for, well, "stuff".
It's interesting just looking through who some of the people my highschool friends know. They freaking beat me. And I have:
- Wendy T Engler (Pigeon Forge-based Dolly Parton impersonator)
- Angie Pollock (Peter Gabriel's keyboardist)
- Adult Film Superstar Teri Weigel (suggested by Michael Martin)
- Cindy Morgan ("Lacey Underall" from "Caddyshack")
Beat The Bomb: The Mind Game Version
KDWB in Minneapolis continually upgrades their game. The morning after they did Jingle Ball last month they started "Win Enrique's Christmas Cash" with the theory that he lost his wallet at the show and you're stealing his money with his ATM card.
Rob Morris didn't want to do the standard version so the amounts bounce around. "$100, $200, $300, $200, $400, $100, $300...account closed". I like this for 1000 reasons but most especially because no one has done it.
The Bieber Bandit Gets Nabbed
"Ticket Bandit" is Fugitive crammed into three or four days. Denver did it with Taylor Swift, Q-102 in Cincy and WNOU in Indy did it with Gaga, and Q-104 in Cleveland did it with Bieber with the expected chaos and gnashing of teeth.
Hot 98.1 in Greenville had the last pair of Bieber backstage passes stolen from the morning guy's desk drawer on a Monday and five days later with a clue that said only "shopping for electronics", a sea of humanity of biblical proportions descended on a Best Buy. Mayhem, cops and TV ensued.
And once again, the streets of South Carolina were safe.
