I look at this the opposite of how 99% of stations looked at RDS messaging in cars. Instead of your music position (which is probably alREADY printed on the vehicle) and some kind of RDS feed with whatever the current song is (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......), I'd do what Wired 963 has done with their RDS car radio blurbs:
* Nice hair!
* You're going to wear that?
* Powered by gerbils
* Why the sad face?
* There's someone in the back seat!!!!Why? Because we can.
And you should ALWAYS have one of these dangling out the backdoor. Why? In this case, it draws peoples' eyes to your van. There are 100,000 logo'ed vehicles on the roads. Yours is the one they'll remember. http://www.soimmature.com/sub_pages/all_thumb_subs/page_door_hand.html
Web Traffic, Unique Visitors and Other Things That Keep Corporate Off Your Back
Thar She Blows It goes without saying that:
* Gas is a great prize right now
* Doing "$25 gas cards through the VIP Club" or designated caller contesting qualifies you for an exciting career in the fastfood industry.KSD in St. Louis, followed by Hot in Denver, Rewind in Cincy and WOW in Boise have done various versions of "watch the website and when something happens, call/text and win."
I'd have an oil derrick on the website. When it hits and oil explodes out the top, the first ten people to text "fillerup" win "free fill ups" which of course is better semantics then a giftcard. Just like a triple play, you need to tease them occasionally. I'd have the tower vibrate like mad a few times but then stop.
Office Hottie Launched for $5000 this morning at 99.7 NOW-FM in San Francisco http://997now.radio.com/2011/02/21/997-now-office-hottie-contest-win-5000/
Break It For Bieber Really could be ANY contest (like diePod) that involves people smashing stuff. Half the stuff on youtube is people smashing stuff, though, I have yet to see research that shows anyone cares about youtube.

ipartiedwithcharliesheen Someone will do this. Let it be you. Basically a social network for strippers, "stars", and young women with bad self-esteem and alcohol issues who had the bad fortune to bump into him in Las Vegas. Kind of like what Dave Ryan has done with Cheaters Club. And obviously, we don't care whether they did or not. Our goal is to get 4,000,000 women around the globe attesting to having partied with Charlie. If you do anything like this, hit that database of links I sent out and watch this thing go global in five minutes.
The (Name Of Station/Morning Show)ies Lots of unique visitors to Mix in San Antonio where the community is voting for the "best" in a selection of categories at www.mix961.com The key is to NOT just rip off the annual poll from whatever your local free paper is. Have some fun with it. -
