Star's Couches
I've always enjoyed taking a Corolla, calling it P Diddy's car and giving it away because it's SO believable.
BRMB in Birmingham where they have a couch in the studio. Whenever artists and celebrities roll through, they sign it. When it's covered, they're going to auction it off for one of their very vibing charities.
We take autographs for granted but it's always fun to watch visitor's pause at a station's autograph wall, mesmerized. If you've got a furniture client, then there ya go. Could also be done with a bed at your summer or Christmas show. Artists recline on and sign the bed or get photos with listeners on the bed. Then you give it away.
Radio Gaga
Congrats to K-Hits in Tulsa where they totally demolished the competition at the show on last Monday.
I heard a station last Fall with Gaga where, day-of-show, they didn't mention it or refer to it for three hours. Genius. We're in an industry of Mensa candidates.
K-Hits became Radio Gaga for the day. They didn't change formats or do anything that would freak out the sliderule crowd. They changed the logo. Tweaked the imaging. Spiked in a few of her songs. Talked about it on the air. They'd held on to ten pairs of tickets after it sold out. Competition had one pair. And on-site it was a bloodbath.
Bannering started at 10 am. They had highway message boards. They'd had two sets of backstage passes. They had a fake backstage broadcast. The competition packed up at 6. K-Hits repositioned and greeted everyone as they left with fliers that touted a stealth song this morning that was worth $106.
If someone of her magnitude comes to town and you don't make every attempt to own it, that's pretty sad...
